Douglas Freeman Acupuncture
Effective Healthcare For The Urban Lifestyle!
Let’s face it… Acupuncture is whacky! On the other hand, it works very, very well for a long list of conditions: pain management, stress reduction, and fertility concerns, just to name a few. As healthcare is becoming more about technology and less about a hands-on approach one of my goals at Douglas Freeman Acupuncture is to bring the time-honored practice of Acupuncture into the 21st century, with the hope of making it as mainstream as possible. With nearly 2 decades of experience, I know this is no simple task and understand that in order to do so I cannot ONLY provide excellent healthcare.
After receiving a BFA from the Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio, I moved to Paris, France to pursue a career as a modern dancer. After teaching dance and fitness throughout France and Switzerland I returned to the United States and completed the Massage Therapy program at The Humanities Center School of Massage/Institute of Allied Health in St Pete, Florida. As a licensed Massage professional in Florida, I returned to Paris to start a private practice in this field. Several years later I saw the need to expand my knowledge of bodywork and healing. I moved to New York and attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) where I received my Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. Since then I have acquired vast experience successfully treating muscular and skeletal pain syndromes, gynecological concerns; especially infertility issues and irregular/ painful menstruation and various conditions related to HIV/AIDS. I held a New York state license to practice Acupuncture and Massage Therapy, Board certification as a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), certified by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique and I am certified by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist after being trained at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. In 2001, I started a private Acupuncture and Massage Therapy practice near Union Square. Immediately after the events of September 11th, I volunteered many hours doing both Acupuncture and Massage Therapy to firefighters, police and many others involved in search and rescue. Currently, I am a member of the teaching faculty at The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, giving workshops and lectures throughout the community, including the McBurney YMCA’s Chelsea location, focusing on the positive effects of using Acupuncture as a viable healthcare option.

The importance of LISTENING…
I understand how important it is to listen. At Douglas Freeman Acupuncture I believe it’s my duty to take the time to really hear my patients, to listen to their questions, concerns, and expectations. I take pride in giving answers and providing explanations in ways that are easily understood. I believe that educating everyone who walks through my door about this “non-traditional” form of healthcare will make you a better patient. In turn, better patients make for better results and RESULTS are my specialty at Douglas Freeman Acupuncture. Contact me today and make an appointment to discuss just how the time-honored tradition of Acupuncture can help you to get the most out of life.
Treatment Methods/My Process…
My treatment methods have deep traditions in Acupuncture, focusing on the deep healing of the body. When I say deep healing, I mean that we go right to the core of the problem and correct the imbalances that can cause many issues. For example with my pain management process, I use Acupuncture, sometimes with the help of electric stimulation to help your body to release its own pain-relieving substances, thus giving you your life back. My weight control program focuses on getting your body back into balance by using Acupuncture, diet, and herbal medicine, which combined helps you to stay focused on your goals and get results. Using my strategic use of Acupuncture methods can also help you to overcome many of the fertility issues that are preventing you from starting the family you have always wanted. Finally with Acupuncture and other modalities I can help with immune system deficiencies by breaking down the barriers in your body that prevent your immune system from doing its job. Simply put, sometimes our bodies need a little help and Acupuncture gives us that extra boost to help improve our body’s built-in healing powers, allowing us to maintain optimal health, to recover on its own and achieve permanent results.
